Marcello Araujo and Marcio Minholi have taken over the lease of the old Revolver Bar on Shotover St and turned it into a new bar and club called Melt.
They aim to be open by July 1.
The pair, along with silent partner Valtair Souza, of Auckland, took over the lease on June 1 after Revolver Bar moved across the road into the old Thirsty Ram.
Mr Minholi said they hoped to attract a range of customers to their Brazilian-inspired bar .
"It will be a nice club and bar with good music and quality sound. We will have DJs playing electronic music and drum'n'bass, but Sundays will be Brazilian day," he said.
It would be a place for the estimated 2000 Brazilians living in Queenstown to socialise, listen to music and eat Brazilian food.
Queenstown had two Brazilian bands which could play live music on Brazilian day.
The bar's specialty drink would be Caipirinha with Brazilian Cachaca.
It would also have a tab system that worked well in Brazil.
"Customers will be given a tab card they can put their drinks on and pay at the end of the night. The bouncer will check their card and if it hasn't been paid they will have to go back up to pay it out," he said.
The bar would also have a VIP area where people would be served drinks without having to go to the bar.
"You don't have to be a VIP to get in there, but people who are in there will get table service."
The pair had enlisted the help of Brazilian friends to help fit out the bar in time for opening at the end of the month.
"We have tilers, plumbers, carpenters, all Brazilian friends helping out.
It's a big job, but I'm sure we can do it," he said.
Mr Minholi said he had secured a temporary licence to 2.30am but would be applying for a 4am licence in the future.
Negotiations were continuing with breweries and he hoped to import Brazilian beer.
Mr Minholi has lived in Queenstown for nearly three years and has worked as duty manager at Strike Bowl in Arthurs Point.
Mr Araujo has experience as a bar owner in Rio de Janiero.
