Memorial service for Paterson

A memorial service will be held for Queenstown Airport Corporation chief executive Scott Paterson at the airport next week.

Mr Paterson (54) died on September 29 after a short battle with cancer.

In a statement, airport communications manager Jen Andrews said Mr Paterson's funeral would be held today in Auckland, where he was originally from.

However, his family had given permission for a memorial service to be held in the resort, giving airport staff and members of the community the opportunity to remember him.

It will be held from 6pm on Tuesday at the international departure lounge.

''In true Scott style, this will be a celebration of his life - short and sweet, with plenty of laughs along the way,'' the invitation said.

''Please don't feel like you need to wear black.''

Free parking would be available in the car park and, following the tributes to Mr Paterson, members of the public were invited to Airspresso to ''hoist a drink to Scott's memory''.
