Market reopens

Fresh fish from Kaka Point and savoury and sweet tarts from Pannikins Cafe and Restaurant will be be on offer among the new stalls at the Queenstown Farmers Market, which reopens for the summer season tomorrow.

A pre-Christmas twilight market is confirmed for Wednesday, December 23, from 4pm to 7.30pm.

"The whole reason behind introducing it is so people can get as fresh as possible produce for Christmas Day and it's been tried successfully in other centres," market manager Sharlene Inch said yesterday.

Between a dozen and 15 stalls from around the South will trade in the picturesque grounds of St Peter's Anglican Church, in Queenstown, each Saturday, apart from Boxing Day, until the end of March.

Fruit, vegetables, flowers, breads, pies, preserves, chocolates, honey, herbs, tea, game foods, bacon, ham and more will be on sale at the market.

There will also be live entertainment by Craig Hubber.
