Bikinis for Breast Cancer racers and NZSki Remarkables staff braved the single-figure temperature and chilly wind gusts to raise $475 for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation on Saturday.
A minimum of $75 in pledges had to be raised by the inaugural event, which was expected to be held again next season. Funds were collected until services closed yesterday.
The event was open to women in both snow sports, while the men joined in support. They raced down the Alta Turquoise beginners' run in bikini tops and snow pants to the finish line, where bottles of champagne and pink Parklife T-shirts awaited the first three women.
