Skiers from around the Pacific will be on the slopes on Saturday, as Coronet Peak hosts the annual Dynastar Lange Junior Interfield series.
Saturday's event features athletes aged from 5 to 16 from as far afield as Australia and Japan, and is the first in five fixtures for the season.
First set up in 1986 to provide race experience to junior skiers in the south, the series - the biggest on the South Island junior calendar - caters for both young athletes in training, as well as recreational skiers.
The series continues at Treble Cone (July 30), Cardrona (August 14), the Remarkables (September 4) and Roundhill (September 10 and 11) ski areas.
On the Remarkables, the programme continues with the Forum Picnic in the Park, a demonstration day held on the ski area's newest terrain park.
Based at the mini-park, the event offers snowboarders a chance to road-test the entire Forum Snowboards range.
The Forum New Zealand team will be demonstrating the latest gear and spot-prizes will be given out on the day.
Sunday on Coronet Peak will be a day for the family, with the Kids' Day Out, timed for the New Zealand school holidays with the Kids' Fun Zone expected to be operational.
"It will be a fun day, with live music, our mascots Spike and Shred and activities going on," Coronet Peak assistant ski area manager, Paul Speedy, said.
