Coronet Peak barista Claire Pender serves coffee in the ski area's base building. During the school holidays Coronet Peak sold more than 25,000 hot beverages.
A record number of hot beverages were bought at Coronet Peak during the school holidays, with coffees and hot chocolates proving popular for snow bunnies.

Coronet Peak Food and Beverage manager Jenny Graham said a total of 25,814 hot drinks were purchased and while high sales figures were expected, the total tally was "just amazing".

"Its a pretty awesome feat to produce that many coffees and hot chocolates. That's way more than ever before, and we have received really positive feedback from customers about the quality," she said.

A flat white up the mountain cost $4.50 while hot chocolate was $5.

Ms Graham praised staff for keeping up with the demand.

"It was a huge ask to keep up. All our staff came to us as fully trained baristas, and were then put through intensive training by our coffee supplier, Douwe Egberts.

"Two baristas can operate one machine at a time, allowing us to serve customers very quickly."

Ms Graham said the new "Mexican cantina" on the deck was proving to be popular this year - "it's very affordable and we've tripled its capacity since opening as a result of its popularity".
