Michael Hill
Hill was announced as the 2008 Ernst & Young New Zealand Entrepreneur Of The Year in October.
He was selected from a field of five category winners.
He told The Otago Daily Times before he left, he would give it his best shot for New Zealand.
"I will go in there with a Kiwi attitude . . . and try to become a winner," he said.
If he did not win, the experience would not be wasted.
"It will be a very glamorous do and even if I don't win, the contacts I will make will be unbelievable," he said.
He will compete with 50 other entrepreneurs for the 2009 world title, which will be presented at an awards ceremony on May 28.
Entrepreneur Of The Year is presented in more than 135 cities worldwide.
