Arrowtown entrepreneur Michael Hill has applied for resource consent to keep his sculptures on The Hills Golf Course for another five years.
Michael Hill Tournaments Ltd holds resource consent for 15 sculptures on platforms around the Arrowtown golf course, but it is due to expire this month.
"These sculpture platforms were used for the recent New Zealand Open and generally," the application to Lakes Environmental says.
"All existing conditions of consent are sufficient to continue mitigation of any potential effects.
"There have never been any complaints about the sculptures from adjoining landowners or members of the public."
Allowing the sculptures to remain in place between events until 2015 would have the positive benefit of reducing the risk of damage to the sculptures as well as providing high quality amenity for The Hills, it says.
The company requested the application be considered on a non-notified basis.
