Heart of the District Awards honour the community-minded

Winners of the annual Heart of the District Awards for those who have made a significant contribution into the community were announced last night at the Memorial Hall.

After the award ceremony having a one-year hiatus, volunteers have again been recognised with an impressive 16 nominations for the awards.

The Civic award went to lawyer Phil Wilson, of Queenstown.

For more than 30 years. Mr Wilson has given invaluable service to many organisations including the Wakatipu Rugby Club, St Joseph's School BOT and the Queenstown Volunteer Fire Brigade.
