The position of principal at Mt Aspiring College was proving attractive to many teachers, board of trustees chairman Grant Ruddenklau said last week.
Mr Ruddenklau said there had been a good response to the vacancy created when Maurie Jackways resigned recently to work at the University of Otago. About 30 information packs were supplied to people who had sent in expressions of interest and he thought about 10 had already applied for the job.
Although Thursday's cut-off date had passed, more CVs could be in the postal system and arrive over the next few days, he said.
"On average, jobs of principal are getting between five to 10 applications around the Otago area."
The board members, plus two others co-opted to assist in the appointment process, would review the applications before meeting next Thursday to select a shortlist.
The acting principal is Wayne Bosley.
