A pair of stand-up comedians, a man and a woman, engage in a battle of wits in the next free play-reading show by Remarkables Theatre on Sunday night.
Queenstown's own theatrical company will resume its monthly reading of short plays in the Wild Thyme Bar and Restaurant, SkyCity Queenstown Casino, on the first Sunday of every month. The series continues after the successful inaugural Pint-Sized Plays competition was staged earlier this month.
A Man Walks Into a Bar stars actress Tessa Taft, who featured in the troupe's promenade theatre production Twisted Tales in the Queenstown Gardens in January, opposite actor Greg Dorn, last seen on Pint-Sized Plays night.
The fast-paced one-act comedy was written by award-winning New Zealand playwright David Geary.
The comedians' weapon of choice? Jokes based on the time-honoured set-up line ''a man walks into a bar . . .''.
Director and entertainer David Cantwell, of Arrowtown, said this week he chose the theme for its suitability for a small cast performing in a bar environment and for its universal humour.

The company's major production for 2013 will be Calendar Girls, by Tim Firth, in the Queenstown Memorial Centre in September.

Auditions for the cast of nine women and four men will be held in the Qpact Rooms on April 13 and 14, at 10am to 4pm. Rehearsals begin in July.
