First Flyer weekend

The inaugural Kingston Flyer Weekend takes place this weekend.

The celebration of the more than 130-year-old locomotives and rolling stock, which were rescued by new owner David Bryce, a Marlborough wine grower, formerly of Southland, will take place every year on the last weekend in March.

This year, three trips on each day will depart from Kingston for Fairlight at the special rate of $20 per adult, $10 per child and under-5s free.

The Stroke Foundation of New Zealand will receive $5 from every ticket sold during the weekend.

The return trips depart on both days at 10am, 12pm and 2pm, with a quick stop at Fairlight.
