Queenstown medical recruitment company MedRecruit won all three of its nominated categories at the Queenstown Chamber of Commerce 2010 Business Excellence Awards on Saturday night.
MedRecruit founder and managing director Sam Hazeldine won the young entrepreneur category, and his company, MedRecruit, was awarded the medium business award and the supreme business award.
Speaking via a live feed from Egypt, Dr Hazeldine said the victory came as the result of two major factors: "The talented and quality dedication of the team, and our passion for what we do."
MedRecruit was started in 2005, when Dr Hazeldine and a friend, Dr Barney Montgomery, became frustrated by other medical recruitment systems and the lack of options available to doctors. In 2006, Dr Hazeldine founded MedRecruit.
"The company started with passion and then it became about the team ... Thanks for giving businesses in this town a chance to shine," he said.
Ricoh Central Otago Copiers won the small business award and Ziptrek Ecotours won the sustainable business category.
Best large business award went to A. J. Hackett, and a Queenstown Chamber of Commerce lifetime achievement award was presented by Deputy Prime Minister Bill English to John Davies, of tourism and property company Trojan Holdings.
