North Taieri driver Glen Frew set a record of 1min 25.62sec at the 2013 Coronet Peak Hill Climb, hosted by the Queenstown Car Club, on Saturday.

Drivers raced against the clock from a standing start on 2.7km of tarmac, on the Coronet Peak access road.

Conditions were mainly fine and dry, but the tight corners and hairpin bends tested all challengers.

The prizegiving was held at the Goldridge Resort, Frankton Rd, on Saturday night.

Results. - A class, 0 to 1300cc: Kynan Yu (Highlands Park), 1:56.88, 1; Craig Malam (Queenstown), 2:09.93, 2; Rodney Malam (Queenstown), 2:10.85, 3.

B class, 1301cc to 1600cc: Gareth Rollo (Dunedin), 1:44.29, 1; Malcolm Lovett (Ashburton), 1:46.89, 2; Peter Sutherland (Dunedin), 1:49.45, 3.

C class, 1601cc and over: Clark Proctor (Takanini), 1:28.02, 1; Cameron Morrison (Invercargill), 1:41.87, 2; Barry Moore (Queenstown), 1.44.02, 3.

D class, 4WD: Glenn Frew (North Taieri), 1:25.62, 1; Duncan McCrostie (Kaitangata), 1:26.98, 2; Tony Quinn (Highlands Park), 1:28.80, 3.

Overall: Frew 1, McCrostie 2, Proctor 3.
