In less than four weeks' time, the jolly man in red will take time out from his hectic schedule to make a special appearance at the Queenstown Events Centre during the Shotover Jet Remarkable Christmas Spectacular, now in its fourth year.

Concert director Simon Green said the December 12 event had not only become the resort's major Christmas celebration but was also an opportunity to showcase and celebrate local talent.

Mr Green has joined forces with Margaret O'Hanlon and Anna Stuart to form a "creative dream team" and says the 2010 singing, dancing musical extravaganza will be bigger than ever, with a local cast of more than 150.

The show was about bringing together "as much of the talent in Queenstown as possible" and giving them a chance to shine.

This year's cast includes the Queenstown Community Choir, Screaming Banshees, Sequin Sisters and X-It Battle of the Musos winners The Fletcherz.

A star-studded local line-up of featured soloists includes Emily Burns, Molly Devine, Marc Hamilton, Sam Hillman and Andrea Cruikshank, and there will be a special appearance by 10th Anniversary Starry Eyed winner Anita Haira.

The artists will be supported by the Remarkable Christmas Ensemble, a special children's choir, over 60 dancers from the Queenstown School of Dance and the Remarkables Christmas Male Ballet Company.

"We've crammed as much as possible, both in terms of musical content and performers, into this year's show and we can't wait to bring it all to life on December 12.

"There is definitely something for everyone and kids of all ages will not only have a great time but will also get to see loads of their friends up on stage, which doubles the excitement.

"Throw Santa into the mix and you have everything you need for a great afternoon's entertainment for the whole family."

The Shotover Jet Remarkable Christmas Spectacular is being produced by the Queenstown Lakes District Council with key sponsorship support from Shotover Jet, Hoamz (MREINZ), Remarkables Park Town Centre, Lakes Leisure and Mediaworks.

Tickets go on sale on November 20 at Queenstown's i-Site and the Queenstown Events Centre.
