Five people were arrested in Queenstown early yesterday on disorderly behaviour and obstruction charges.
Sergeant Tracy Haggart said a brother and sister living in the resort were arrested just after midnight after an incident outside Surreal Bar.
The 43-year-old man was charged with disorderly behaviour and will appear in court next week after allegedly calling out to a passing patrol car and being verbally abusive.
The 41-year-old woman was arrested after obstructing police, but released on a pre-charge warning.
• About 1.15am, a 26-year-old British national living in Queenstown was arrested for disorderly behaviour after becoming upset at being refused entry to the Buffalo Club.
Sgt Haggart said the ''extremely intoxicated'' man tried to rush past the doorman and, after being restrained, refused to let go of the door handle, causing glass in the door to break. He will appear in court on Monday.
• Two Alexandra men received pre-charge warnings after being arrested for disorderly behaviour at Winnies Bar about 2am.
A fracas began when a 40-year-old man argued with bar staff after being asked to leave, she said.
His 27-year-old associate joined in the dispute, causing ''a bit of a wrestling match down the stairs''.
