Motorists on State Highway 6 can expect delays of up to 10 minutes this week, as the New Zealand Transport Agency carries out safety improvement work at the Nevis Bluff, half way between Cromwell and Queenstown.
NZTA project manager John Jarvis said the work would begin today and was expected to be finished on December 4.
The work was part of ongoing safety and monitoring of the Nevis Bluff and would include abseil inspections and helicopter sluicing to remove any loose debris.
Providing the weather was suitable, Mr Jarvis said motorists could expect delays of up to 10 minutes between 8am and 5pm.
He said the safety of road users was paramount throughout this project, so some delays for motorists were unavoidable.
Regular updates on the status of the section of highway would be provided to motorists and the information will also be on www.highwayinfo.govt.nz.
