Cardrona deer farmer John Scurr walked away unscathed from a helicopter accident on Thursday evening and is now waiting for the Civil Aviation Authority investigation process to begin.
Mr Scurr said when contacted yesterday he was "fine" and was planning a busy day working around the farm.
The accident was not as dramatic as it sounded when reading the police media release, he said.
The report by Inspector Rick Jury, of the southern communication centre, said the aircraft rolled about 80m down a slope but Mr Scurr said he did not think it rolled that far.
The accident happened during an approach for landing on a slope, he said.
It was a low impact but heavy landing during routine farmwork and no other people were about, he said.
The accident activated the aircraft's emergency locator beacon and he was walking the 2km-3km back to the homestead when his farm manager picked him up in a vehicle.
Mr Scurr said the Robinson 22 was badly damaged and he did not think it could be repaired.
