It was a brisk dip in the freezing waters of Pinders Pond, near Roxburgh, for 18 hardy entrants in the inaugural Pinders Plunge on Saturday.

The event was part of the third annual Teviot Valley Scottish Week celebrations, which finished yesterday.

The Kilt Canter, along 4km of the Clutha Gold cycle trail, attracted 54 participants and was immediately followed by the "plunge", making it one of the week's highlights.

Oat cakes, Scottish fingers, tinned haggis, tartan scarves and caps and Scottish key rings were among the prizes.
