Police have withdrawn a dangerous driving charge against the co-founder of AJ Hackett Bungy, Paul Henry Drury Van Asch.

Mr Van Asch said he was happy the police had decided not to proceed with the prosecution.

Police had alleged Mr Van Asch overtook on yellow lines on a blind corner at up to 169kmh on Malaghans Rd on September 23.

His lawyer, told the Queenstown District Court in January, he had evidence there were no yellow lines on that section of road.

He also had a surveyor's report which said Mr Van Asch had no less than 200m visibility of the road ahead.

Mr Van Asch said another driver had reported his driving as dangerous to police.

"Police have now decided they didn't have a particularly strong case on the basis that there was no proof of what speed I was doing.

The manner I was driving was not what the other person alleged," he said.

Judge Gary MacAskill formally granted leave to withdraw the charge in the Queenstown District Court on Thursday.
