The Queenstown Lakes District Council last week voted unanimously to pass a suite of recommendations on road access to the proposed Larchmont Developments subdivision at Arthurs Point.
Several neighbouring residents made submissions about pedestrian safety, easements and the $350,000 roadworks budget during the public forum.
Councillors then voted that the chief executive negotiate public road access links to Atley Rd with the developer and a neighbouring landowner.
Resolutions relating to costs, council contributions and expenditure, road design and neighbourhood consultation were also passed. The road upgrade will not be signed off until the council has approved any agreements reached with the developer and neighbour.
• Film-maker Jane Campion last week received Queenstown Lakes District Council approval for a licence to film scenes for the Top of the Lake mini-series on Kelvin Peninsula.
The lease grants the right to build a temporary cabin in the forest, which will be removed once filming has been completed in about four weeks' time. Council officers may approve some tree trimming and security will be in place, but the filming should not interfere with track or road users.
The rent is $1725 and a bond of $2000 is to be paid.
