Corporate golfers are being encouraged to enter a team for a New Zealand regional golf tournament at Millbrook next month, with a chance of representing New Zealand in South Africa at the World Corporate Golf Challenge in May.
NBR World Corporate Golf Challenge event manager Michelle Slack-Smith said corporate golfers of all abilities were encouraged to invite their colleagues or clients to enter the March 9 tournament at Millbrook, one of five regions selected to host the series.
Other tournaments would be held at Paraparaumu, Hamilton, Terrace Downs and Muriwai.
Ms Slack-Smith said prizes included a set of Piranha Golf Clubs and the chance to win a seven-night golfing holiday for two to South Africa.
Series director Barry Bradford said there was no reason why the region's golfers should not take part.
"Playing in the regional final at Millbrook Resort is just the first step on an amazing international golf tournament experience.
"Thanks to our partner Pacific Blue, the winners from the regional final at Millbrook will be whisked away to Queensland in April to compete in the Australasian final, where they'll meet other New Zealand finalists as well as the finalists from our Australian series.
"Let the transtasman rivalry continue - this time on the golf course."
The seven-night golfing holiday to South Africa meant even if golfers had "one of those days" at Millbrook, they were still in the running to tee off on some of the country's most picturesque professionally designed courses.
"What have you got to lose?"
The Millbrook regional final was a two-ball aggregate stableford event, so a DotGolf handicap was essential for both players, Mr Bradford said.
The entry fee for a team of two players was $500, which included green fees for the 18-hole stableford event, hospitality and prizes.
Winners of the New Zealand regional finals would receive an all-expenses-paid trip to compete at the Australasian final at Twin Waters Golf Club, Sunshine Coast, Queensland, from April 16 to 18, with the first- and second-placed New Zealand teams then heading on an all-expenses-paid trip to South Africa for the world final from May 3 to 8.
