About 20 Queenstown Lakes and national companies have contributed thousands of dollars worth of equipment, supplies, machinery and labour to the cricket oval project on Coal Pit Rd.
The non-regulation-sized oval will host at least two social cricket fixtures a year, fielding teams from Gibbston, Bannockburn and Cardrona, and the amenity will have the potential for more.
Car parking, toilets, landscaping and potable water supplies are in the works.
Gibbston Community Association chairwoman Susan Stevens said residents hoped the oval would be finished in December.
