With seven weeks left until the 2009 Queenstown Winter Festival, organisers have announced one event has already sold out.
All the tickets for the American Express Great Comedy Debate on June 29, featuring the cream of New Zealand comedy and entertainment, have been snapped up.
Festival director Sally Feinerman said the event had been popular for many years, but "this has to be a festival record".
"To sell out at this early stage is very exciting," she said.
The stellar line-up will feature Rhys Darby - best known as Murray from Flight of the Conchords - Dai Henwood, Te Radar, Emma Lange, Paul Ego and Oliver Driver, with MC Jeremy Corbett.
Ms Feinerman said anyone who felt they had missed out on their winter comedy fix should not despair, with Te Radar's irreverent one-man show Eating the Dog also scheduled for American Express-sponsored Winter Festival.
The hilarious romp through the pages of New Zealand history is drawing in the crowds at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival in Auckland, and won the best comedy award at the 2009 Dunedin Fringe Festival.
• Eating the Dog, The Millennium Hotel on July 1 at 8pm. Tickets ($30) are available online at www.winterfestival.co.nz, or by telephoning 0800 FESTIVAL.
