A proposal to extend the Wanaka Yacht and Power Boat Club building in Roys Bay appears set to clear another hurdle.
Queenstown Lakes District Council staff, in a report due to be tabled at Wednesday's council meeting, recommend the club be granted a new 33-year lease of 1272sq m of Crown land for the existing building and the club's planned extension.
Joanne Conroy and Peter Hansby, of QLDC's property contractor, APL, recommend the club be granted a new licence to occupy land for trailer boat storage, for three years with two renewals.
''Approving the lease that allows an extension to the buildings will also prevent the need for the yacht club to have to relocate to accommodate their growth.''
The club's membership is about 160.
