Organisers of the Gibbston Harvest Festival have listened - and say they have responded to suggestions from the community about the event.
Committee member Julie Hughes said the festival, being held at Waitiri Creek Wines, would feature plenty of live music from local musicians and "more shade" in direct response to pleas from the community.
Building on the success of previous events, the 2012 festival would feature local wineries, leading restaurants and specialty food suppliers from Gibbston, Arrowtown and Queenstown.
All wineries involved in the festival harvested grapes in the Gibbston region and the event provides a chance for the public to taste the varieties from up to 17 local producers.
Additionally, the popular and informal Master Classes would be held for those wanting to become better informed about wines from the region.
Mrs Hughes said each year the festival committee nominated a group to receive proceeds from the event - which has allowed $100,000 to go back into the community in the past six years.
This year's chosen group was the Arrowtown Rugby Club, who would be providing players to assist at the festival.
"It's a fantastic local festival," she said.
"It's affordable and its a fun day out for everybody."
Waitiri Creek Winery manager and festival committee member Jason Moss said he was "delighted" to be hosting the seventh annual festival.
"Our community enthusiastically supports this initiative and it is a great day out for the whole family."
Included in the entertainment would be a "barrel-rolling race" while a designated children's area would feature a bouncy castle and games.
The festival will run from 11am to 5pm on March 17, with tickets available at the gate on the day.
Tickets are $15 for adults, which includes a tasting glass, and a gold coin donation for children.
Entry to the Master Classes was also by gold-coin donation, while car parking was free.
Transport was also available through Snag Bus Tours at $25 per adult return, leaving Queenstown at 11am and 2pm and returning at 3pm and 5pm.
