Frankton Community Association has a new president and four new committee members, in the association's first major action this year.
Scott Freeman was appointed president as Chris Cerecke stepped down from both the role, after two years, and the committee, during the 17th annual meeting in St Margaret's Church Hall, last Wednesday.
Mr Cerecke did not seek reappointment as he has work commitments and now lives in Jack's Pt.
Deputy chairman Richard Stringer also has other commitments and has moved to Kelvin Heights, but remains on the committee.
It was moved Bill Falcone, Rosalind Groves, Gordon Ballantyne, Alice Blackley, Simon Phulen, Jean Young, Steven Kirk, Robin Rice (subject to his approval on return) and Keith Syme (subject to his return) be the elected committee members for 2010.
Jean Young returned as secretary, but the joint role of treasurer would be appointed at the next FCA meeting.
Kingston and Frankton community constable Zoe Albon, based at Queenstown Airport, was guest speaker.
Const Albon introduced a neighbourhood support initiative, an evolution of neighbourhood watch schemes.
The aims were to create awareness of neighbours and support in civil defence and in general.
A specific public meeting on the initiative will be held in the future.
Const Albon wanted to a form a group with a leader to co-ordinate the sharing of information and to spread the word.
The next committee meeting was set for today, and meetings will take place on the first Wednesday of each month.
