Ladies, have you ever been stuck with a flat battery and been forced to call a man to help you start your car?
Have you ever had to ask a man to check/change your oil for you?Have you ever had a flat tyre and had to stand by the side of the road like a hapless maiden in distress because you had no idea what a jack looked like, let alone how to position it for the purposes of tyre changing?
If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then Frankton Automotive is about to come to your rescue.
Women will reclaim the car on Saturday at Frankton Automotive's free Women's Only Day - where, clearly, blokes are not welcome.
The three-hour session will include basic tips, instruction, practical hands-on learning and having car maintenance questions answered by professionals.
The women attending will also learn about oil checks, water checks, tyre pressure, tyre changing and "all the stuff blokes normally do, so obviously it's not rocket science".
The afternoon has "free entry, free parking, free chat and free oily rags" with very simple instructions: "Just bring yourselves, bring your girlfriends, bring your questions and don't wear your best gear."
Frankton Automotive office manager Caroline Cullimore said the four mechanics would be able to look after about 10 women each and were there to answer any questions.
"You can be as blonde as you want to. These are not the type of guys that will look at you and go, 'That's a stupid question'.
"We just want the ladies to feel comfortable. Sometimes it's a bit intimidating to walk into a garage full of men - but these are lovely guys.
"They'll go through a basic check list . . . for checking oil and water. Then the boys will go through locating your jack and wheel nuts, and then they'll answer any questions the ladies have about their car, even what the flashing lights on their dashboard are."
The Women's Only Day will be held at Frankton Automotive, Margaret Pl (off Glenda Dr), from 10am to 1pm.
Spaces are limited, with bookings available by phoning 442-2746.
