Surely, there could be no more romantic a setting than a twilight ride on the Coronet Peak chairlift, overlooking Queenstown's beauty below.
For many, this set just the right mood for searching for that special someone at Friday night's inaugural singles night chairlift speed-dating session.
Over 45 locals and visitors went up the mountain to register and hop on the "Cupid Express"- usually known as the Meadows Express chairlift.
The idea to hold the event came from Coronet Peak workers Mo Rush and Cody Stake, who are self-confessed romantics.
"I've tried to be as corny as I could with the love hearts and everything," Mr Stake said.
The pair played cupid all evening and Miss Rush said the singles night was a success and they hoped to hold another before the season ended.
"It went really well, we got some good feedback and I think a few numbers were exchanged.
"I think, if there's enough interest for it, we will have it again this season," Miss Rush said.
The chairlift ride acted as a speed date for skiers, who were trapped alone for five minutes before reaching the top of the mountain.
The method was ruthless as well as romantic - those interested could swap phone numbers before they reached the top, while those less taken could quickly flee down the mountain on skis.
