Wakatipu music lovers will be able to enjoy one of the region's favourite choirs next month when the Central Otago Regional Choir performs Fabulous Faure in the resort.
CORC committee member Sue Patterson said acclaimed Nelson-based organist Kemp English, University of Otago baritone Julien Van Mellaerts and 16-year-old soprano Beth Calverly, of Alexandra, would be performing with the choir.
The concert will feature Requiem and Cantique de Jean Racine by Gabriel Faure, Charles Villiers Stanford's Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in G and other works.
"The Requiem, written in the late 1890s, is an intimate piece conveying a sense of calm and faith.
"On listening to the music one can sense a connection with the French Impressionist style of art to follow the period when this was composed," Ms Patterson said.
The Central Otago Regional Choir will perform at St Andrew's Presbyterian Church on Frankton Rd on May 1.
The performance begins at 7.30pm. Entry is $20 for adults and free for school-aged children.
