Queenstown Film Society is calling for entries for its third annual Local Short Film Night on September 24.

The highlight of the 2013 season of classic and contemporary New Zealand world cinema gives aspiring film-makers the chance to show their work on the silver screen in a packed Dorothy Brown's Cinema, in Arrowtown.

Society president Scott Kennedy said any style would be considered for screening, as as long films were about the Queenstown Lakes district, or made by district film-makers.

''Films should be no more than 15 minutes in length and may be made by a professional or an amateur,'' Mr Kennedy said.

''There is no age limit - our youngest ever entrant was just 12.

''Over the past two years we've had some great work submitted by talented local film-makers, but we think this could be our biggest year ever.

''So get shooting and we look forward to seeing what you can do.''

• Anyone who wants to submit a film should email: info@queenstownfilmsociety.co.nz as soon as possible. The finished film should be submitted on DVD by August 23.
