The Rodgers and Hammerstein musical will be brought to Wakatipu stages in May next year by Showbiz Queenstown and Bryan Aitken, the director of last year's performance, All Shook Up.
Showbiz Queenstown secretary Hilary Finnie said prospective managers had to know what they were doing, but could expect "an incredibly rewarding and fulfilling" role.
"We are a voluntary organisation, so people don't expect to come forward and do it for a salary - they do it for the camaraderie and the satisfaction of making the production the best they can make it."
Although there was already a wealth of experience in Queenstown, the town attracted many newcomers who could be a valuable addition to the production, she said.
She hoped the managers would be in place by December, with auditions in February and rehearsals starting at the end of February or the start of March.
The department manager positions are: musical director, production manager, lighting, sound, construction, props, stage manager, head mechanic, wardrobe, make-up, hair, creative, marketing, front-of-house and bar.
