Opponents of a new bungy operation planned for Queenstown are taking their fight against the development to the Environment Court.
Independent commissioners Neville Marquet and Lyal Cocks announced this week they had approved HAT Ltd's plans for the bungy, which would be built near the western end of Tucker Beach Rd. The 185m-high bungy would be the highest in Queenstown.
The decision followed a two-day resource consent hearing in Queenstown last year. More than 40 public submissions were received on the proposal, and all but one opposed it.
Opponents Caroline Hutchison and Quail Rise developer David Broomfield, on behalf of the Broomfield family, are among four groups to file appeals to the Environment Court in Christchurch, arguing the consent should be declined.
Both Mrs Hutchison and the Broomfields argued the development - which involved steel cables stretching across the valley to Frankton and cable cars for jumpers - would adversely affect their views.
A date has yet to be set for the hearing of the appeals.
