A British national has been charged with drink-driving and careless driving after a crash in the Queenstown suburb of Fernhill.
Sergeant Tracy Haggart, of Queenstown, said the 27-year-old was driving up Fernhill Rd about 4.45am today when he failed to take a bend, crossed the centre line and crashed into the tail-end of an oncoming vehicle.
He had a breath alcohol reading of 883mcg.
Neither driver was injured, but both vehicles sustained moderate damage, Sgt Haggart said.
Meanwhile, a man from Gore was caught driving in the resort with a breath-alcohol level more than four times the legal limit.
The 34-year-old blew 1097mcg after a random stop on Shotover St about 3am today.
Both men will appear in the Queenstown District Court on Monday.
