President of the BMW Car Club of New Zealand Gerry Hodges said New Zealand was chosen for this year's forum and it had been a straightforward decision to hold the event in Queenstown.
"I put my hand up and suggested New Zealand. Looking around New Zealand for possible locations, the options were actually quite thin. In holding a meeting of this professional standard, Queenstown was the obvious choice," he said.
Founded in 1981, the International Council of BMW Clubs represents more than 800 clubs from around the world and 250,000 BMW motorcycle and car enthusiasts.
More than 60 BMW delegates, observers and partners were expected to attend the event.
The forums provided an opportunity to discuss any problems or issues a club might be facing and to receive advice and support from the BMW group. The forum would also see new cars from the BMW range.
"BMW Otago Southland will be providing vehicles for the meeting and on Sunday a large group will be driving down to Wanaka through the Crown Range," Mr Hodges said.
Attendees will also have a ride on the Shotover Jet and take a trip to Milford Sound.
