When author Paullina Simons was asked yesterday which question she would like from the Otago Daily Times, her response was: "Is The Bronze Horseman going to be made into a movie?"

And her answer to that? "I can't say. However, watch this space until about Monday or Tuesday next week."

Simons flew into Queenstown yesterday, then travelled to Cromwell, where she was speaking at a function organised by Paper Plus owner Mike Paardekooper.

After that she returned to Queenstown, and she leaves the resort this morning.

The author of Tully, Red Leaves, Eleven Hours, Tatiana and Alexander, The Summer Garden, The Girl in Times Square, Road to Paradise and The Bronze Horseman has this week launched her latest book, A Song in Daylight.

It was "similar to nothing", she said.

"A wife and a mother in the middle of her happily ever after married life begins a life-changing affair with a much younger man," she said.

It was Simon's fourth visit to New Zealand, but her first to Queenstown, and her flight into the resort was as close to an adventure activity as she was willing to go.

"Landing at the airport was quite interesting. That was enough adventure for me for a lifetime."

Last night's event was a sell out, thrilling the author.

"I'm aware [of popularity] when I come. I get a lot of people coming up to me and just being so happy and enthusiastic," Simons said.
