The lodge, which opened last year, was sold after being placed in receivership in May.
The accommodation complex at the base of Coronet Peak catered for seasonal workers or short-term visitors to the resort.
It has 98 rooms, mostly studio units.
Stormcat Lodge is set on 1.42ha of land.
Consents are approved for its future development.
Receiver WHK Cook Adam Ward Wilson appointed commercial agent Colliers International to sell the property.
In August, Alastair Wood, of Colliers, described the lodge as a "quality property with a $13 million development cost, including land".
Mark Simpson, of Colliers, said the buyer was looking to continue running the lodge as worker and visitor accommodation.
"They are looking to spend a bit of money in improving the grounds and some of the amenities and looking at having a local operator manage the complex," Mr Simpson said.
"It's great for [the] town. It's a fantastic building.
"The feedback we had . . . was pretty consistent.
"Any negative feedback around it was just `How does it work in this location?'.
"The building itself is a very high-quality asset," Mr Simpson said.
The lodge was developed by Stormcat Property Development Trustees Ltd.
One of the company's secured creditors is Dominion Finance Group Ltd, which was placed in receivership last year.
