The hunt is on for the rightful owners of property recovered by police from a Taieri Mouth property.
Senior Constable Murray Hewitson, of Owaka, said a house at Taieri Mouth was searched three times over the past six months and a large amount of property recovered.
The most recent search was made earlier this month.
Some items had been linked to 19 reported burglaries, but much of the property was unaccounted for.
A ''black powder'' Uberti revolver was one of the more interesting items, as a firearms licence with an endorsement was needed to own a pistol.
Snr Const Hewitson said the age of the pistol was unknown, but it had been imported into New Zealand before 1994.
Other property discovered included a BSA air rifle, eight wetsuits and more than 15 fishing rods, with the rest mostly outdoor recreational gear.
Police originally thought the burglaries took place in the Taieri Mouth area, but at least one happened in Dunedin, and others could have been carried out in Dunedin and Central Otago and gone unreported.
A 37-year-old Taieri Mouth man is believed to be involved in nearly 20 burglaries and thefts. He faced eight dishonesty charges, with a further 10 pending, Snr Const Hewitson said.
Anyone who had not already been in touch with police about missing property in the area, and who recognised pictured items, should contact the Balclutha police (03) 418-0203, Snr Const Hewitson said.
