Woman charged after AOS callout in Weston

A Timaru woman is set to appear in the Oamaru District Court after being charged in relation to an incident in Weston on Saturday that resulted in an Armed Offenders Squad callout.

The 24-year-old was charged with obstructing police at a Percy St address that was the focus of a police investigation that also led to the arrest of a 43-year-old man on several warrants about 10.35pm.

He has yet to be charged, but was scheduled to appear in the Timaru District Court today on unrelated charges.

The woman will appear at a later date.

On Saturday, armed offenders squad personnel were present as police cordoned off a section of the usually quiet suburban street, between Argyle and Charles Sts, in the North Otago town.

Several armed police, a dog squad and at least eight marked police cars were at the scene for several hours.
