Vandalism costly for council

Waitaki District Council representatives are bemoaning the recent spate of sign vandalism in the district.

Roading assets manager Michael Voss said 12 signs were vandalised during September and October, and that number had already been matched in November.

Regulatory signs and those bearing street names had been targeted.

The replacement cost of the signs is about $3000. The council wants residents to contact police or the council if they see anyone causing damage.
