Ideas on the development of tourism in Palmerston flew thick and fast at a breakfast meeting attended by business and community leaders from the town this week.
Palmerston Ambience with Information iSite owner Joan O'Reilly said the centre was often asked if the town had a camping ground. A wide range of activities were also suggested, including gold-panning and using the town-centre water wheel and miner's hut.
The meeting was told the Seasider tourist train would run every Wednesday during winter between Dunedin and Palmerston and the Silver Fern Railcar would make winter trips.
