Three people were taken to Oamaru Hospital after two cars collided at the Wharfe-Test Sts intersection about 10.40am yesterday.

An Oamaru woman and two tourists were treated at the crash, and then taken to hospital for further checks before being released.

Acting Sergeant Stuart Dowling said the Oamaru woman was driving west in a Citroen on Test St when a Mitsubishi Galant (pictured right, below) occupied by four tourists driving north on Wharfe St was allegedly driven through a Give Way sign.

The front of the Citroen hit the right-hand side of the Mitsubishi, pushing it into a fence on the corner. The Citroen ended up facing the direction from which it had come.
