Earthbound asteroids and what can be done about them will be the subject of an illustrated talk at the Waitaki Boys High School auditorium on March 12 by United States astronomer Dr Robert Jedicke.
Dr Jedicke, of the Hawaii Institute for Astronomy, is one of the leading scientists in his area of study.
He is on a private visit to Oamaru and has agreed to give a free presentation on the institute and its work, especially on the detection and mapping of solar system asteroids. The institute studies detecting and potentially deflecting Earthbound asteroids.
