Strong interest in vacant sites

The search for developers for two vacant sites at Oamaru’s waterfront has started well, with 20 registered parties asking for information, Waitaki District Council acting chief executive Neil Jorgensen says.

The period for submitting a proposal for the two sections slated for visitor-centred businesses ends next Friday  and while no expressions of interest had been made yet, Mr Jorgensen said the number of parties requesting information was "a good sign".

Detailed design work was not required yet, as the council would simply determine whether applicants were able to accomplish their plans.

When does Council plan to publish the names of interested parties? I expect ratepayers will be keen to know whether the Mayor will be behind another publicly-funded get rich quick scheme.
