Emergency services have been called to Awamoko, in North Otago, following a report that a stock truck and trailer had rolled just after 10am.
The incident happened on the Georgetown-Pukeuri Rd (State Highway 83) in the Waitaki Valley.
A police spokeswoman said stock was believed to have been on board.
There were no "major" injuries and an ambulance heading to the scene was stood down, she said.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokeswoman said no extrication was needed as the driver and the animals were out of the vehicle.
A reporter on the scene said it appeared it was just the trailer that rolled and ended up in a ditch.
At 12.30pm the truck and trailer was removed from the ditch and was back on the road again.
