From Monday, pupils will have the choice every Monday of a healthy lunch from local business Spud 'N Waffle, instead of fish and chips.
Fish and chips were previously available once a week and were "quite popular", with up to 60 orders a week among the 240 pupils. However, the decile 3 school has become a "health promoting school", the teacher in charge of health, Bron White, said.
Changes have already been made with the school's involvement in the Fruit in Schools initiative, and the morning tea "snack packs" were also being revamped. Healthy eating certificates were given to pupils at assembly.
There was a mixed response to the decision away from fish and chips.
Fish and chips will now be available only once a term.
