The unconditional sale of a seventh site was confirmed yesterday and Spivey Real Estate Ltd agent Tony Spivey said there was more interest in stage 1 of the development on the north boundary of Oamaru.
All going well, there would be building work under way on at least one site before Christmas.
''That will bring life to the subdivision,'' he said.
Mr Spivey could not identify buyers, but it had been publicly announced in April that Te Pari Products Ltd had bought the three Waitaki District Council-owned sections.
''[So far] it's a mix of new business to the district as well as those that are relocating from their existing [local] sites and developing their business,'' he said.
The development is being undertaken by Oamaru Land Holdings Ltd, a company owned by Auckland businessmen Andrew and Michael Carpenter, who bought the site in 2008.
Spivey Real Estate Ltd has exclusive sale rights.
''It is just a very positive thing for North Otago and it is great to see it getting to this point. Can't wait for the buildings to go up. That'll bring life to it,'' Mr Spivey said.
''We're working with a number of other parties, looking at other sites, as well.''
The freehold commercial land is in a ''high profile'' location on Oamaru's northern town boundary, opposite the Oamaru Racecourse on State Highway 1.
