Oamaru's free Christmas dinner is still going strong, seven years after the first one was organised by the Orwell St Chapel.
This year, at least 70 people are expected for the midday feast, originally provided to cater for those who wanted company or were struggling over Christmas.
The event is being organised by chapel counsellor Amanda Acheson, who will also ''double as the cook''.
The dinner will be similar to those held previously, with a festive main course of ham and turkey, followed by dessert of trifle with fruit and then tea and coffee with cake and Christmas pies. Entertainment will be provided.
The chapel had always had ''great local community support'', with donations and contributions of food to help with the event. Previous sponsors were being approached to see if they would again support the event. Also, volunteers to help with the meal would be welcome.
People wanting to attend the meal should contact the chapel by phone to book by December 19.
