Most domestic power consumers in North Otago will get a discount of $122.26 off their power bills in a payout from their power lines company, Network Waitaki.
Network Waitaki, through the Waitaki Power Trust, is owned by its 12,500 consumers in the area covered by the company's power lines - from the Waitaki River to Shag Point, up the Waitaki Valley as far as Ohau and the Hakataramea Valley.
This year, almost 4100 domestic consumers will get the $122.26 discount, compared with $88 last year, off this or next month's electricity bill.
The discount is based on their consumer class.
Others range from $127.36 to almost 5000 consumers on a controlled supply to $1763.31 for three large consumers.
The payout this year totals $2.02 million (including GST), 3.2% more than last year.
Network Waitaki chairwoman Clare Kearney said the company was proud of its achievement in providing a low-cost, efficient, safe and reliable distribution network, while growing its network capacity to meet the increasing demand.
The discount has two components, a non-discretionary discount determined in December 2013, and a discretionary one, determined by Network Waitaki's directors in February 2015, that was dependent on market conditions and the company's performance.
