Instigated by the Oamaru Whitestone Civic Trust, the book features more than 40 pages of photographs and captions about the businesses in the area, along with a map.
Trustee Graeme Clark got the idea after visiting London and purchasing booklets at the places he visited.
"It's good to give people lasting memories of the place," he said.
The Oamaru-designed book is available at the trust's office in Harbour St and various outlets in the town.
It has been produced in time for the town's Victorian heritage celebrations, which continue with a variety of events, including the Victorian garden party at the Oamaru Public Gardens between 2.30pm and 3.30pm.
